How to Find Your Ring Size at Home
My biggest frustration as a jeweller – the internet advice on how to measure your ring size at home. The honest answer: you can't. Not accurately.
A piece of string around your finger, a strip of paper and a ruler – none of it gives you the precision you actually need. The risk of getting it wrong by two or three sizes is very real. Because every extra millimetre is already a different size.

How to measure properly
The most reliable way: visit a jeweller and ask to be measured with a ring mandrel. It takes two minutes, and it's the only method that accounts for your actual finger – not a strip of paper or a screenshot from the internet.
Usually there are two sizes that will work for you – one that fits a little snugger, one that feels a little looser.
Which one to go with depends on the time of day and the time of year. If you're measuring in summer, in warm weather, or early in the morning when your fingers are still slightly swollen from sleep – go with the snugger of the two, as long as it still feels comfortable to wear. When the swelling goes down – later in the day, or in winter – the ring will still sit well. If you choose the loose one while your fingers are swollen, there's a real risk it'll rattle around your finger in cold weather. In general, the difference between a summer and winter size is about half to a full size.
The only home method I consider acceptable is ordering a professional metal ring sizer – a set of small test rings you can try on throughout the day: morning, afternoon, evening. That way you'll know which size feels comfortable across different conditions.
Two other options: go to a jeweller and ask to be measured with a proper sizing tool. Or walk into any jewellery store, find a thin ring that fits, and ask for its size. If you're in Berlin, you're also welcome to come to our studio – we'll measure your finger and help you find the right proportions.
Ring width affects sizing
Your standard thin-ring size is usually all I need – I handle all the adjustments from there. But if you want to be as precise as possible, it's worth trying on a ring the same width as the one you're planning to buy. The wider the band, the snugger it sits. A wide ring in your usual size will feel tighter than a thin one – even though the number is the same.

Wedding ring sizing – why getting it right the first time matters
If the size turns out to be slightly off – even with a custom ring – we can always fix it. But with wedding rings, you want to get it right the first time. Partly because it's a ring you'll wear every day. And partly because there's almost always a date to meet. Getting the size right from the start means one less thing to worry about.
Sizing systems and the size chart
We work in the German sizing system (EU/DE) – the circumference of your finger in millimetres. If you've already been sized by a jeweller but have your measurement in a different system – US, UK, Swiss, Japanese – just check our ring size chart and find the equivalent. If your system isn't listed there, write to us directly and we'll figure it out together.
Can't find your size on the site?
Even if your size isn't in the list, we can still make it. We work with very small and very large sizes too – they're just not shown on the site. Write to us and we'll make your ring in exactly the right size.
FAQ
How long does it take to make a ring in a custom size?
Usually it adds one to two weeks to the standard production time. Most rings – even custom ones – we make within a month. But it depends a lot on what adjustments are needed. So even if you're short on time – write to us, and we'll do our best to help.
Can I use my existing ring as a sizing reference?
Yes. If you're sending us a ring – describe how it fits and whether you're comfortable with that fit. Or let us know if you'd like the new ring to sit a little snugger or a little looser.
If you're taking a ring to a jewellery store to find your size – make sure to ask for your standard thin-ring size. If the ring you bring is very wide, it will affect the measurement.
What if my size changes – weight, pregnancy?
Finger size changes over time for everyone – that's normal. A ring can always be adjusted, both up and down. Write to us if you run into this and we'll help.
If you're planning to order wedding rings and want to sort out the sizing first – come to the studio in Berlin. We'll measure your finger properly and help you figure out the right proportions before you commit to anything.
